LifeLong Yoga

LifeLong Medical Care is a community health care organization serving primarily low-income people in Alameda, Contra Costa and Marin Counties. LifeLong's mission is to provide high-quality health and social services to underserved people of all ages; create models of care for the elderly, people with disabilities, and families; and advocate for continuous improvements in the health of our communities.

The LifeLong Yoga Project integrates Yoga into the health care of low income adults at the LifeLong Wellness Center in East Oakland. At LifeLong, yoga is defined as a wellness practice that helps patients strengthen their mind-body connection. The ultimate goal is to create a safe place for participants to explore their own healing capabilities. The emphasis is on breath, self-awareness, movement, meditation, and mindfulness. Through asana and breath patients say they come away from class feeling energized and stronger, with less stress, decreased pain and feeling good.

The LifeLong Yoga Project helps create awareness that each individual has the power to create change in their life; inspiring not only physical wellness, but compassion, confidence and community-building.
